Mission:
Prologue: Centre Predominate
Location: USS Moore - Bridge
Timeline: MD 001: 1100 hrs
The turbolift deposited its occupants at the intended destination. While the others moved to their assigned posts, Steven paused for a moment to take in the sight of the pristine ship that he now was first officer of.
The Calgary and Columbia were both Miranda class. He had yet to be assigned to such an advance starship. He controlled his excitement and moved to his station. “All hands, report in on status for departure.”, he ordered per procedure.
“Docking thrusters online and standing by. Awaiting orders.” Stewart reported from the helm.
Kei had watched as the new first officer took to his duties. He wasn't new to the role, but he may as well have been for Keishara. She'd looked into him before he came on board and the measure of a man was all well and good on paper but she wanted to see how he was in person. How he acted now, and given their exchange at the briefing at Starfleet Command so far he left little to the imagination.
However, she would perform her duties regardless of her opinion that the man lacked a personality.
"Security is fully manned and operating at 100%, Tactical is also fully stocked and systems operating normally." Kei reported.
It was interesting to be on a Starfleet vessel, he'd never thought he'd ever be on one in an official capacity. Amarok tapped at the various scientific systems that the Prometheus-class battleship had. They seem hastily installed and not quite fluid in response to his control.
However after a moment or two of various checks and returns from across the scientific subdepartment heads and control systems Amarok smiled. "Sciences, probes compliment and sensor systems all confirmed ready Direc- I mean Captain." He made a whoops expression as he looked back at his station.
He was used to civilian titles from his involvement in many scientific projects that happened around the core worlds, maybe a few in the outer regions.
Jaan was manning the engineering station on the bridge and arched an eyebrow as others reported back. There was a silence that fell over the bridge as officer looked at him. "Engineering is operating at near peak efficiency. We have a slight variance in some minor systems but we working on it."
"Medical is present and accounted for," Vila replied, boredly. She sat at a console, fingers tapping in boredom. Was it really necessary she be on Deck for this? Her time would be much better spent in Medical, setting up things.
“All systems operational, waiting to contact the dock master on your command, Sir.” The young ensign at Ops reported in.
Chiharu looked at the Captain and then at her PADD. It wasn't a sheepish look but she wasn't a fan over public speaking, even if it was to only the bridge crew.
"The intelligence department report they are ready to get back to work. As we are still department heads short we do have people in acting roles who are eager to get back out into open space. The Diplomatic department is quiet, which is not often a good sign as it usually means they are drafting requests for you both to look at." She referred and looked at both Commander Greco and the Captain. "Gunnery Sergeant Natana of the marines reports they are a little short on recruits for their boxing competition but otherwise are ready to go. Aside from that I think we are all eager to get back out there Captain."
Stryvek had sat rigidly straight as he listened to the reports of the bridge crew. His seat was flanked by his Execuitve Oficer to the right and his Yeoman to the left. Both of which were new to him and he had not made any decisions about them either way. "Thank You Petty Officer." The Vulcan began with a response to his Yeoman. "Commander I see no reason that we cannot get underway. Operations seal the airlock and release docking clamps." Once the Operations Officer confirmed the order he continued. "Lieutenant Stewart close exterior hatches, depressurise the airlock, detach umbilicals and clear all moorings. Thursters to station keeping."
“Aye, Sir.” Stewart called out. She closed and sealed the ship with a flick of her fingers and continued to disembark with the tapping of her console. “Clearing all moorings.”
"Lieutenant s'Lovok initialise the deflector field." Streyvek continued the by the book launch. This would serve as example of how this ship would run with him in command. "Lieutenant Stewart ease us out."
A little longer then an actual Starfleet officer would have done it in, Amarok got the deflector charged and initiated. "Aye," Amarok called. The field came online on all four sides a moment later and then spread out on the inside of where the shields would be active. "Deflector field online and...stable." There was a momentary pause as Amarok waited for the field to fully engulf the ship.
“Yes, Sir. Docking thrusters engaged at two-quarters speed.” Eyes on the controls, Stewart can feel the ship hum to life as the inertial dampeners kicked to live and they began to move.
"Helm, port and starboard thrusters to one quarter and clear the station." Stryvek continued.
Stewart nodded in her understanding and reduced speed and turned to clear the station before they were out in open space. “Course laid in, warp eight. Estimated time of arrival at the Neutral Zone, four days and six hours.”, she called out over her shoulder.
"Very well Lieutenant. At your discretion." Stryvek then turned toward Commander Davaris. "Commander I want battle readiness drills. I know we are on a mission of mercy and assistance however, we need to be ready."
Stewart found it odd a Vulcan captain would immediately order battle drills before they even left the Sol system. She kept quiet though and just punched in commands to engage the engines and went to warp.
"Yes sir. I'll see to it that the ship is in condition to respond to a fight if we get into one." Kei responded from her tactical station. She ran drills of her own staff every couple of days so they were ready, but the crew as a whole was another question. With the influx of new staff questions were raised. The older crew, the ones that had been there for years knew what to expect and what to do. Slightly junior officers, those new to the Moore would need to be taught.
"Very good. Thank you Commander. The Executive Officer has the bridge." Stryvek said as he rose from his chair and entered his ready room. He had a lot of thinking and meditation to do. This whole mission did not sit well with him. Humans would have said he had a gut feeling, the fact that Vulcans did not have gut feelings is what troubled him more than anything else.
Still parked at the Console, Vila's eyes scanned the horizon. Even if she was bored, it was still exciting every time a ship launched. She was looking forward to the mission, at any rate. "All medical and science interfaces are reporting positive outputs," she said.
Amarok glanced over at the woman who mentioned Sciences and though somewhat annoyed she'd crossed departments but it subsided when he saw the Captain disappear into his office. He wouldn't have heard her. Amarok observed the woman to see if she had noticed.
