Mission: Year One: Whispers in the Wind
Location: Sickbay
Timeline: MD003 - 1115 Hours

Keishara had been sparring in the holodeck without safety protocols on, again. She was warned by all the previous CMO's, doctors on board but she was in a bad habit of not listening to them and frequently came in with lacerations, fractures and the odd broken nose.

Fights had to be real or there was just no point. There would be no thrill in fighting an enemy that could not truly harm you.

Recently she'd been reliving her war days and fighting Jem'Hadar. This would be evident due to the lacerations on her arms and one of her cheek that were clearly from one of their weapons.

Walking into sickbay she looked for the nearest dermal regenerator but couldn't see one so started rummaging through some drawers. This was difficult due to her dislocated shoulder, but... she was making do so far.

A quiet voice with the hint of being from the British Isles could be heard, "Here let me help you out." as a woman came into view. She had medium brown hair with reddish highlights, and a look of concern in her eyes. "Why don't you come with me to the bio bed and I can see to your wounds." her voice having an soothing quality to it. "I am the new Doctor, Lily Marlow and you are? First off let me take away the pain before we reset your arm back into its socket." pressing a hypospray, to take away the pain.

Kei had heard the soft stepping of feet moving towards her. They didn't sound like a threat and therefore she didn't treat them as such. So, when the voice came from behind her she turned and looked at the woman in blue that stood before her.

Kei didn't answer the woman when she asked her to go to the biobed. Instead she did so without question and sat her butt down. "I know who you are, we met on the planet. However, I am Keishara Davaris, Chief Security & Tactical Officer. You don't need to worry about a pain killer, just give it a pull." she offered the dislocated side towards Lily.

Lily shook her head, "The painkiller isn't for you, it is for the muscles and the tendons in order to get them to relax and I can maneuver your shoulder back in place." Her voice quiet with a firm tone. "What were you fighting?" she asked having some curiosity. As Lily spoke, she checked to see if the hypospray worked, and finding such, she moved the dislocated shoulder back into place, with her gentle but strong hands.

Kei made a face at the hissing of the painkiller and the doctors explanation of its necessity, but she was the professional in the space at least. As the shoulder popped back in she smiled and gave it a rotation.

"Oh just a bunch of scaly indoctrinated addiction fed fighters." she smirked. "They didn't survive."

"Duly noted, from what I see from your wounds. From your statement, they probably look worse than what you look right now." giving a little bit of a smirk. "Tell me about yourself? It looks like you've been through some battles in your life." Lily remarked as she got the dermal regenerator to heal the cuts on Kei, starting first on her cheek.

"More than I care to share Doctor." Keishara said simply and shortly. There were many scars over her body, some she had chosen to leave, some were healed but left those scars unseen.

"I have lived for over 2 centuries. I've been a slave, been a courier, been a bodyguard for royalty. I've fought in a war, I've taken lives, I've saved a few as well. I've been broken, battered and bruised from the shitshow of a galaxy but still I stand here, or sit..." she gestured to the biobed. ", still breathing and somehow find a way to believe that what I am doing is good for the galaxy." she shrugged. "If you want more precise details then you'll have to get me drunk in the DMZ."

"The lounge is called the DMZ? Interesting, I had no clue. And you certainly have been through the wringer." almost finished with the cheek. "And that actually is more information than what I expected. I do appreciate that though. I've not been in many battles, even though I served on a military ship. The ship I was on, took a major beating, we barely made it back to a station with escorts." the cheek finished Lily went to the next injury. "It is interesting how ones perceptions in life changes when getting into life and death events."

"Was named during the war and it stuck." Keishara shrugged. "And I have... but you should see the other guys and gals." she winked. "I'm standing, they are in the ground."

She watched the woman run the dermal regenerator over her other cuts.

"It's funny that you say that because I've not given you much information." Keishara chuckled. "What was the name of your ship? Was it during the Dominion War?" she asked.

Lily shook her head, in the negative. "It was the USS Nighthawk, and it was after the Dominion War. I'm only thirty, I went to the Academy at age twenty two after I graduated. I had gone to college, despite the Dominion war going on. I wanted to be a doctor, so got educated." the next cut she took care while she continued on, "So, haven't been in the big war but I was alive during that, just a youngster. Just a little over four months ago, the Nighthawk and the ship we were escorting got attacked by pirates. I've been cleared for duty and so here I am."

"Hey, I can never tell what age your species is... you could have looked great for 50." Kei almost backhandedly complimented her. "But pirates are the one thing you cannot predict." she nodded. "Sure there will be a warning in place but those assholes can show up anywhere. Did you destroy their ship? Capture any?" Kei was curious as to what flag they flew.

Lily chuckled. "Oh I hope I look great like this when i get to that age. As for the pirates I wasn't certain as to what flag they flew, all I know is yes they were destroyed, none captured. Heavy damage to the bridge, and other areas. Lost friends, lost the CMO who was also friend. Defied orders from security and went to the bridge to get to the captain, suffered injuries. The captain was saved, I got scolded." Lily giving a smirk, "but his wife was very happy to be reunited with her husband."

"You wont." Kei referred to her looking as good at 50. Kei wasn't being mean she just spoke her mind quite freely. "And I understand the need to defy orders from time to time... but don't tell the captain that." she smirked. "Sometimes doing what is right over what is sensible is the only course of action."

"Indeed that is true, especially since the captain had a pregnant wife waiting for him at home. As for my not looking good at age 50 I hope I have the good genes my parents have." Lily not taking offense. "One could only hope, right?" giving wink at Kei. She paused to check her own handiwork on healing Kei's wounds. "You certainly have a rigorous training program." she remarked, her words no rancor in them.

"You could hope, maybe you'll be lucky." Kei agreed. "I am lucky that I can control my aging process. I can look older if I want, look younger if I feel like it but I'm happy with this medium just now." she offered more information.

"And yes, my training keeps me sharp. You never know when another species will come in and attack. No-one would have expected the Dominion War before the wormhole was found and look how quickly that turned around on us." she sighed. "At least we won, although not without great cost."

Lily nodded somberly. "Yes too much cost of life for many." her voice quiet. "I do not think I am much of a combatant. Would love to know more about self-defense. I could use my knowledge for stopping the energy flow of certain parts of the body but, I know the basics but what if I get caught behind enemy lines if I go out into battle to help the injured?"

"You'd probably die." Kei said bluntly. She could see the woman's face, a look of shock from her words. "But there are evasion techniques I can show you. Non-lethal forms of defence."

She was shocked but Lily also appreciated Kei's directness. "Well then, that would be something I would be not against. " she stated. "I would hate to be a burden in case I find myself in a fix with someone else. If I am inept I would endanger myself and others. And that just wouldn't do at all. Now would it, Commander?"

"Yes, dying would be unfortunate." Kei nodded in agreement with her own statement. "And being a burden even more so." Almost as if placing a burden being worse than dying. "That would be very annoying..."

"Indeed it would be for all concerned." Lily finished up with the dermal regenerator. " You are all set, and ready to go. Give your shoulder sometime to heal before you beat the crud out of anything else. I also recommend a massage therapy session as well which would help you heal faster, and take care of the build up of lactic acid crystals. This will put your body back into balance. That is my recommendation as a medical personnel."

"I don't know what crud is but it sounds unpleasant." Kei said making a frowning face a little. "As a medical professional, do you know who gives out massage therapy?" Kei asked. "I don't think in all the years I've been on this ship that anyone has ever advertised that skillset."

Lily chuckled. "I have that skill set, as to massage therapy. Also crud means pulverizing someone into mere pieces of quivering flesh. I just didn't want to use the other word. As in poo. Anyway. let me know if you would like to schedule an appointment where that is concerned."

"Ahh, shit." Keishara nodded. "I do enjoy beating Jem'Hadar though." she mused. "But if you suggest I give them a couple of days to rest their holographic faces then I will. As for an appointment you can let me know when you have a space and I can make myself available if we are not off the ship."

"Give your opponents at least a week, if you would please. "Lily replied. "And once I get the lay of the land so to speak, I can see about making appointments then. " she paused and with experienced hands ran them along the upper shoulder muscles even to the neck muscles. You may end up needing a spinal adjustment as there seems to be some places out of alignment."

Kei tensed a little as Lily touched her shoulder. She had not idea that just below that, on her back she had scars from being whipped when she was a slave. Probably most of the misaligned spinal tweaks needed were due to that life... and having fought in a war. There was in fact the slip tip of a scar protruding from the edge of her workout top. A top which was designed to show little to none bare skin at the back. "As you wish Doctor."

Lily felt the scar, she had questions but for now the initial examination and healing of the wounds was sufficient enough. She got the readings she needed, due to the bio bed. "Alright, I am finished and will do no further poking and prodding of you." Lily making a slight joke. "when you have the time, we can possibly start my training as to not be a burden when going into the field."

Keishara could do nothing but give a light smile and a nod at the prodding joke. "I'll look at my own schedule and send you some times for your Burden Removal Training." she joked also as she rose to leave. "Thank you doctor."

Lily grinned, "Then we have an accord. Okay we'll converse a bit more later." Lily paused as a thought crossed her mind. "I am wondering if I would be able to set up a room just for massage therapy. I've got some gear that would be needing to be set up. Who would I be talking to on that? "

"If you speak to the Quartermaster I am sure they will be able to find you a non used space, untaken quarters or something." Keishara responded. "Or if you speak to the counselling department, or reassign one of your own room and class it as medical care then you can set up where you like."

Lily's eyes lit up. "Oh that is right I can do that can't I." she gave outright laugh. "Good heavens I need to redirect my thought process and realize what I can actually do in this position." she gently tapped the side of her head. "Okay brain, wakey wakey." a large grin appearing. "thank you Commander Davaris. This has been most enlightening."

"Yes." Kei replied. "You fix my wounds with little questions doctor. Much better than your predecessor." This was as close to a compliment as Kei usually gave without looking uncomfortable. She rotated her shoulder and made for the door. "When you have a room available for your massage treatment contact me. If not before I'll contact you about your training." And with a quick nod she was gone back into the wilderness of the Moore's halls.
