Mission:
Year One: Whispers in the Wind
Location: USS Moore - Captain’s Quarters
Timeline: MD 005 - 1900 hrs
Stewart had received word from Commander Greco that the captain was ill and he was now in command. However, as the chief liaison officer for the colony, he was needed on the planet and she was to maintain orbit of the ship and notify him immediately of any issues.
It didn’t take her long to realize the situation. The captain was ill with such severity that he was relieved of duty for the next several days. Steve wasn’t coming back to the Moore. That meant the supposed illness was a private matter that Greco was being left in the dark as to the severity of. Despite only knowing the captain for a month, she understood his methods and made her way to his quarters, understanding better than most non-Vulcans what was going on. It wasn’t lost on her there were no female Vulcans amongst the crew either. Regardless, she still hesitated before pressing the chime to man’s quarters. She felt a strange wave of anxiety and uncertainty run through her as she waited.
Stryvek's emotions ran in overdrive, in particular anger. At the moment he sat cross legged in the middle of the living room of his quarters. He had found some notes in the computer that Tuvok had written on meditation to control Pon'Fahr. Thus far it worked about half as well as it should. The door chime brought him out of the meditation just as it began to work. He was about to growl at whoever was at the door, but he caught himself. His voice strained with concentration and control of himself that only someone who attained Kolinahr could do. "Whoever is there I am indisposed. Any business can be directed to the Executive Officer who acts with my authority." Stryvek hoped that would make whoever it was disperse.
Evelyn could hear the anger bordering on rage in the man’s voice, even as he was trying to control it. It confirmed her suspicions. With a heavy sigh she tapped the controls to override the lock and let herself in. She took in the captain’s quarters, but was focused on the man sitting on the floor. She wasn’t stupid. She knew what the Pon’Fahr was, to a certain degree more than either Vulcans or herself would like her to know. She also knew he could barely control his intense emotions now. The fact he was three times her strength and twice her size wasn’t lost on her either. “You know…with you relieved of duties and both Greco and Kei off the ship, I’m technically in command.” She said to make light of the situation before looking at the Vulcan more seriously. “How many days has it been?” She asked more seriously, knowing the dangers associated with the condition.
Refusing to bring anyone into his problem, and knowing that a return to Vulcan was out of the question. Stryvek had resigned himself to settling this himself. He was convinced that either he would do this through meditation or something that was ultimately done for Tuvok, a hologram. The silence passed between them as he continued to sit with his legs crossed and his eyes closed. When he began to speak the voice that emerged was cracked and strained. "If that is true Lieutenant then your place is on the Bridge not here with me. Since I have already relieved myself of duty any order given is null and void...." His voice trailed off and his face twisted into something of a cross between pain and rage. A moment later it returned to a serene state. "I suggest you leave before control is lost...."
Evelyn had to consciously keep herself from taking half a step back from Stryvek and remain brave, letting the momentary fear pass through her. “Bishop can handle the bridge. If nothing else Greco and Keishara available in the event of an emergency.” She stated matter of factly. “The studies on holograms for sexual gratification as an effective treatment for any species are inconclusive at best. But I assume you already know that, which is why you aren’t in the holodeck.” Noting the look he gave her, she shrugged. “We’ve all done it. It doesn’t work if you mentally can’t overcome the reality that they are a hologram. So I’m asking you again, how many days has it been since this started?” Her tone more firm on this point with him. Stewart wasn’t going to let Vulcan pride and stubbornness get the captain killed.
"Enough..." Was all Stryvek could get out in any normal kind of voice. Kolinahr said that it purged all emotion, however, it merely teaches the practitioner how to conceal them best. At the moment the Pon Far had broken all control he had over the emotions. It was a credit that he controlled it for as long as he did. As the rage took over there was a part of his brain that was grateful for it, welcomed it. He picked up his meditation lamp and hurled at Stewart. She was deft enough to dodge it at the last second. The oil and flame contained in the lamp spread on the wall and was out within seconds as the Moore's flame control system engaged. "LEAVE NOW! You Know that long before your putrid race crawled from the goop my people were roaming the stars. I can break you in half with a thought and a snap of my fingers. Oh how easy it would be to kill you and watch the life leave your dimwitted eyes..." He rose and approached her slowly and with purpose as he spoke.
In the dim light, Stewart could barely see the meditation lamp thrown at her until it was too late. She only just side stepped it in time, thanks only for her quick reflexes. Watching it bounce off the far wall, she just set her jaw against her growing frustration. She reminded herself that the captain wasn’t himself. He was suffering from a chemical imbalance and was not thinking rationally. It was why she was there in the first place.
It was when she turned back to address him again and saw him standing and approaching her that she grew alarmed. Taking a step back and away from the Vulcan, Evelyn did her best to control her fear and keep her face and tone neutral. “I know how a Vulcan handles this time is a reflection of his character.” she said cautiously but emphatically in Vulcan. She hoped speaking what was essentially both of their native languages would help calm him as she stood her ground. “Let me help you. I may hate Vulcans, but I am not going to just let you die if there is something I can do to help.” She said sincerely.
As she spoke Stryvek continued to advance on her. When she finished he towered over her and looked down directly at her face. The Vulcan's hands were clenched and he seemed ready to strike. However, the sound of his native tongue being spoken allowed him to once again quell the anger. Through gritted teeth he spoke. "You are not my mate. You do not fully understand..." There was a pause as the anger passed through his face and it returned to somewhat normal. Sweat began to pour from Streyvek's face and temples. "...There is a chemical bonding that will occur. This would not be a one time affair." His voice was surprisingly calm and for the moment it seems that total control was regained. "You need to leave. Return to the ship and do your duty. I can no longer guarantee your safety."
Evelyn stood her ground, looking up at the intimidating man. “No, I won’t.” She said boldly. “I’m aware of the risks. If you don’t mate you will die. We both know there is no other option. We can’t leave orbit, there are no female Vulcans and you determined holograms won’t work or you wouldn’t be resorting to meditation.” Stewart said bluntly about the situation. She had a certain understanding of Vulcan sexuality, Senril explaining it in the broadest of terms when Tomran went through the Pon’Fahr when she was a child and she stayed with his relatives for several days. The words one body and one mind being clear symbolic language that Vulcans shared not only their bodies, but minds during such an act. Evelyn was prepared to do that if it meant to saving Stryvek’s life.
Looking up into the Vulcan’s eyes, she reasserted her position. “This is my choice. Let me help you.” she said in Vulcan, hoping to get through to his logic and reason. She extended and offered her two fingers to him. It felt awkward. She hadn’t extended the intimate gesture in years. Stewart hadn’t visited her foster parents in person in over a decade, but it was appropriate in this circumstance.
Thoughts, emotions, images, and many other things ran through the mind of the Vulcan Captain. However, deep beneath all of that remained the logic, the training and schooling that he had gone through, and for what it was worth all of that training said she was right. He needed to mate, the hologram worked for Tuvok because it was his wife, his true bonded mate. Stryvek did not have a bonded mate, and was not sure if he ever would. That part of him that looked toward the physical thought that Evelyn was appealing, she was beautiful in fact. As he processed all of this his head was cocked to one side and he remained staring at the two fingers. That which was pride within him rejected everything about this idea. However, that which was logic knew this was the way. To live on to complete his mission in life superceded all else. Whatever ramifications there were would be sorted later. Lucky for Stryvek the logic of Kolinahr beat out the pride and emotions of Pon Faar. His hand was shaky and unsteady as his two fingers extended to meet hers. "Our minds become one, our bodies become one. From this point on we act as one mind, one being." When their fingers touched there was no going back. The mating bond had been done and the blood fever would now consume Evelyn to mate.
Stewart gasped in reaction to the sudden onslaught of emotions from Stryvek. It took all her will to keep control and not lose herself in the storm that was his emotions. Evelyn had always had intense emotions for a human, but never experienced anything like this. Eventually she felt the ebb of his emotions in her mind. Years of mental discipline to keep others out of her thoughts were slowly coming down, but not by him. Evelyn felt her own emotions growing stronger, more intense. Her discipline was slipping and she found herself not resisting Stryvek’s thoughts, but meeting them with her own. Slowly thoughts became indistinguishable between the two of them. Memories, feelings, sensations, thoughts were merging into one. It took a moment for this reality to sink in and not to be overwhelmed by her emotions, their emotions. Soon the only thought in her mind was she needed to join their bodies like their minds were. Taking a step forward, Evelyn leaned up and kissed the Vulcan passionately, barely restraining her impulses. The years of imposed mental discipline allowing her to remain somewhat grounded in reality.
This was the one time that Vulcans would allow their emotions to dictate how they proceeded and Stryvek was no different. He returned the kiss with equal passion and pulled Evelyn in even closer. Her mind, and her emotions were delicious and his mind devoured them. He could see why she acted the way she was, and why she was here with him now. With a swift yet delicate motion he pushed Evelyn up against the nearest wall and pinned her there. While he held her there he began to nuzzle and kiss at her neck. Here, in this moment there was no Captain and Senior Officer, no Vulcan and Human, there was not even a man and a woman. There was one being, one mind, revealing in the moment and in the emotion of it all.
Evelyn hardly felt her back meeting the wall until Stryvek’s lips were at her neck. Instead of being frightened, she met his eagerness with her own. With a breathy moan, she tilted her head to the side to give the Vulcan better access to what he wanted as her hips sought out his. She could feel him in her mind, all their thoughts, memories, secrets merging together. It was incredibly euphoric but also extremely exposing and a vulnerable position for either of them to be in. When it was clear they shared each other’s thoughts and didn’t need to physically speak to understand each other, it was liberating. She moved to kiss him passionately again, meeting his arousal with her own as she swiftly removed the tie keeping her braid in place and letting her hair fall down past her shoulders on its own as her hands moved to the Vulcan’s uniform to begin removing it. Her needs, their needs, and urges becoming possible to ignore.
Stryvek allowed her to remove the top of his uniform and he in turn removed hers. With no words he deftly picked the woman up and into his arms. Still breathing heavily but more steady now Stryvek carried Evelyn into the bedroom and tossed her on the bed. Right now in this moment he was all emotion, however, shortly this urge to mate would be behind him. However, the ramifications of what was to come would not be.
