Mission: Year One: Whispers in the Wind
Location: USS Moore - Sickbay
Timeline: MD: 015 1200 hrs

Making her way down to sickbay, Liana wanted to get her transfer medical done and dusted so she could dive head-first into this wonderful example of Starfleet's technological achievements. While her time on the Excelsior class USS Lakota was an excellent experience that she wouldn't trade for the galaxy, this Prometheus class ship was an entirely different experience. One that she was really looking forward to.

Following the path that was indicated on her map of the ship, Liana arrived outside of sickbay and without a moments hesitation, she marched into the room.

Lily was working on making a sketch of what she could do with one of the rooms she was setting aside for massage therapy. She had an actual tape measure to plan out where things can fit and what space she had to work with. A hundred and twenty square foot room 10X12 would work just perfectly. With just enough room to move around a massage table, and maybe even hang the apparatus that she would use for Ashiatsu, a specialized massage utilizing the feet. She was making a list of where she would be putting her supplies, when her attention was caught by someone waiting for her.

"Oh hello may I help you?" Lily asked of the woman there. She placed her sketch pad down, not having closed it up. "I am Lieutenant Lily Marlow" she introduced herself, her voice having a soft English accent.

Turning to face Lily, Liana put on a huge smile before rushing foward to give her a friendly hug, “nice to meet you” she said before letting go and taking a step back, “I’m Lieutenant Baaru Liana, the new Chief Engineer. I’m here for my transfer medical so I can get it done and dusted and then jump feet first into this beautiful example of technology”

Lily was slightly taken aback, she'd not been greeted like this before in the medical profession, but she couldn't help but smile. "You are hugging me like a long lost friend." giving a warm chuckle. "And I am the Chief Medical Officer. So you want to do a quick run through of medical and then get to work. I admire your enthusiasm." her smile turning into a grin. "This is a lovely ship but I've not seen much of it. Engineering, sounds interesting. How about you get on the bio bed and we can get the preliminaries all taken care of." retrieving her medical tricorder for them to begin.

Nodding happily, Liana quickly moved over to the closest available biobed and hopped up onto it. Swinging her legs like a little child, she looked around sickbay, letting her engineering brain flow.

Lily started taking the scans, as she did so Lily remarked. "What is your specialty in the Engineering field?"

“My specialty? Hmm I guess you could call me a Systems specialist. I’ve spent nearly my entire career refitting or retrofitting older starships like the Miranda and Excelsior classes with modern technologies” Liana explained, thinking back to her time at Utopia Planetia, “This is the first actual modern built starship I’ve ever been on.”

"I see." Lily mused. "And that is wonderful. My brother is an engineer as well. And I love Miranda class starships. I got to tour on one. There is just so much you can do with a Miranda class." Lily just beaming as she finished up her scans. "The scans are showing that you are doing well. Therefore you will be able to immediately get to working on the ship, whilst I go to tend to my little project." Lily walking over and picking up her sketch book once more. When she picked it up it slipped out of her fingers and dropped to the floor, the page she had been sketching on, face up. It was basic rough drawings for her massage therapy room.

Hopping down from the bio-bed, Liana caught sight of the designs on the doctors notepad, “What ya working on there Doc?” She said, taking a few steps towards the woman, “I didn’t know you were an architect as well as a medic.”

"No I am not an architect, its just designing a hopeful massage therapy room in that space there." Lily pointing towards the designated room. "I used to have a set up something like this on my other ship. Albeit a smaller version. This one seems just bit more room so was making adjustments." Lily giving a smile.

“Oh, would you like some help? I’d be happy to lend you a hand if you want. Get things moving a little faster” Liana said with a eager twinkle came to her eye, “Besides, you’ll need to get the approval of the Chief Engineer and Chief of Operations before you starting building anything on this wonderful ship”

"Well then best get a meeting put together right?" Lily getting a huge smile. "I was told since it was going to be in medical it would also be of my choice as well. So maybe a meeting between us three and it can be made to happen?"

Liana gave an enthusiastic nod, “That sounds about right to me.”

Lily grinned. "I am very excited to be able to get back to that once again. Some of the details may end up seeming a bit strange but, hey its all a part of the therapy."

“It definitely sounds like fun, but I’m not sure how a massage table would be good for medical applications. A resort station, sure, but not a sickbay. How do you use it?” Liana asked, looking over the designs again.

"Massage therapy is actually good for the body as well, plus I also use acupuncture. With my mother being into naturopathy medicine combined with current medicine she utilizes that to keep the body in balance. Therefore I was going to be working on something like that. However I had spoken to Dashku, and maybe there needs to be a different setup made, it still is considered medical. Just not something one finds a part of so called modern medicine." Lily giving a slight frown. "Just.. yes it does seem something that would be on Risa or another place but it does have its own medical structure as well. When using acupuncture as well as acupressure, a person needs to know the physiology of a person in order to use it properly. If you hit a certain point on someone you can actually disrupt the energy flow to like say an arm or even a leg or even knock someone out, like a Vulcan nerve pinch. But I digress on that. If there is a blockage of energy flow it causes problems. With a pressure point a headache can cease or even hiccups."

“So, how does this therapy work between species? Surely we can’t all have the exact same nervous systems. It would be like trying to wire up a Defiant class like a classic Constitution class, the pathways might be there but their destinations are completely different”

"The pathways are different depending on the species. However, this calls for a lot of research for the anatomy and physiology of the races, hence a hefty amount of studying on my part. Don't worry I study, have studied a lot. However I have done massage therapy on Bajorans, Orions, even a Vulcan. Klingons are interesting to work on as well. I've done that." Lily paused then gave a wry grimace, "I sound like I am just bragging."

“You say you’ve worked on Bajorans. What about hybrids?” Liana asked, partially out of curiosity, partially as a challenge to the good doctor.

"I have worked on hybrids." Lily replied. "Are you wondering whether I would be able to work on you? I can." giving a confident nod. "Well, hopefully I can get my massage therapy room, it would be lovely."

"I'm sure we can get it working. We've just got to get through the regulations first. From what you've shown me there shouldn't be a problem, but I'll leave that up to the Ops chief. They're the ones who throw the power around."

A soft chuckle from Lily. "Well, that is true. When things get all set up we can start some appointments, maybe? If you wish that is." Lily stated.

"Yea sure, I'll be your first test subject doc. It sounds like fun." Liana replied with a wide smile, "Well, if that's all, I better be going. There's a lot of this beautiful ship that i haven't crawled through yet"

"Maybe one day I will get to take a look around, the ship myself. Sounds like a fun thing to do. " Lily said, giving a chuckle. "See you later, Liana." Lily giving a wave as Liana left medical. When the engineer left, Lily looked about once more, giving herself a hug. She was going to get back to one of her loves and that was massage therapy.

Just then, Liana quickly walked back over to the doctor and gave her another hug, “This is going to be a fun assignment” she said before letting Lily go and leaving as quickly as she’d returned.

Lily chuckled, at the hug and run that Liana did. The woman was nice and she didn't mind at all. It reminded Lily of her sisters.
