Mission:
Year One: Whispers in the Wind
Location: Brighton Colony - Main Colony
Timeline: MD 016: 1000 hrs
When the blue shimmer of the transport faded, Tollan took in his surroundings. The festival was already crowded with people. With a grin, he turned to his friends who beamed down with him. "So where do we want to head to first?" He asked the group.
"Find a bar?" Matewa nodded enthusiastically.
"Bar!" Rufio seconded. "Although food would also be a good idea."
"Eatings cheating Rufe." Matewa chastised him playfully.
"Old wives tale." he winked back and gave him a nudge with his elbow.
The pair just laughed at each other. They had been thick as thieves for years at this point.
"And what is wrong with eating?" Lily giving an amused glance at the two men, Rufio and Matewa. "Food sounds good, plus a drink or two. I plan to see what the booths have for me to purchase. Like some herbs, and spices and something very nice."
Kes looked around slowly as he took in the varied crowd around him, his antenna slowly moving around curiously as well. "Wherever we end up, I want the ale strong and the eye candy pleasant."
Lily motioned towards the other two, "I am sure they would know just where to go find that. I wouldn't know, though for me, I see a few pieces of eye candy in my own view." Lily responded with a teasing smile.
Lee looked around and sniffing the air trying to catch the scent of fresh cooking meats. " What I'm really looking forward to is a thick rare steak with baked patato with butter sour cream and melted cheese. You know, a REAL non replicated steak. Oh and a chilled quart mug of beer to wash it down with. After that I'll think about doing some serious drinking. "
"Well now, perhaps there is one way to go and that is over there!" Lily catching the scent of something that could only be identified as meat being cooked over a firepit. "this way men!"
Lily turned to the left and following her nose. The scent was rather enticing, it reminded her of her father's cooking over a fire in his restaurant. She wove her way through the festival attendees Admiring the outfits that people were wearing. She caught sight of some booths, making note in her mind of there locations for her to go back and peruse at her leisure. Food first was something she learned when it came to the males in her family and sometimes the women, herself included in that aspect.
" Target locked and course laid in. " Said Lee with a smile, as he also picked up on the scent and began moving in that direction..
Tollan laughed at the exchange. "You heard the man, follow the nose!" He said amused, following after Meadows.
Kes grinned at the exchange. At least the crew wasn't a bunch of stiff wooden fleeters. "Lead the way, but leave some for me." The tall Andorian weaved his way through the crowd, easily keeping track of his companions as people passed between them.
"I am hoping that you lot will leave something for me to drink." Lily called over her shoulder with a laugh as they neared the eatery their noses were leading them to.
The place was busy, it had both indoor and outdoor dining, with several barbecue units set up with meat cooking. Servers, both men and women passed by, their arms loaded with trays and taking the food to the tables that were waiting for their meals and drinks.
"My mouth is watering." Matewa commented as his eyes drifted from tray to tray at all the food going by. "Smells amazing as well."
"Need to try those wings." Sam commented nudging Matewa and pointing towards the tray he'd missed.
"We now have a mission!" Lily's voice ringing out with amusement "We must gain a table or tables and gain food and eat delicious wings and whatever else we wish to do so. Ready set go and who ever finds a table first I'll by a round for them."
Kes grinned and quickly walked over to a large table that only had three chairs around it. He did the math and looked around for more chairs. Most of the tables weren't at full capacity so he managed to beg, borrow, and steal the extra chairs that were needed.
He gave a sharp whistle toward Lily and opened his arms to show the table and chairs. "I'll take a double of whatever their strongest alcohol is."
The Andorian sat down and waited as his companions joined him at the table. "Someone mentioned wings?"
"I sure did." Lily answered then walked over and ordered the strongest drink they had in the establishment making it double. She waited for it to be filled and then brought it over for Kes, "Here you go, as promised." she stated.
"Okay so lets get food and other drinks ordered, its time to have some fun!" Lily waving over a server who came to take orders.
As Tollan took his seat at the table with the others, his eyes wanders at all the various people. He gave a friendly nudge to Koaruh. "Eyes only, this time. Got it? I don't want to have to treat you in Sickbay again because you couldn't keep your hands to yourself like last shore leave." He teased with a smirk.
"They couldn't keep their hands off me either!" Koaruh protested "What am I supposed to do? Deny them the experience?" he grinned and winked at Tollan.
Kes happily took the drink from Lily and took a large chug of it right then and there. He half listened to the conversation between Tollan and Koaruh and grinned. "The greater the risk, the greater the reward."
When the server got to him, Kes ordered a pound of honey garlic wings and turned his attention then to Lily, "Besides, the good doctor here can treat any self inflicted ailments I'm sure."
"See! Kes gets it!" Koaruh threw his hands up. "Triplets Tollan! Triplets!"
Lily looked at Koaruh, definitely impressed that he was able to be with all three of the ladies. Then again, as she thought it over, both the men and women of the Betazed race do have a reputation of having a strong libido, and from his records she had seen, Koaruh was rather healthy. He was certainly capable of his feat with the triplets.
"Well now." Lily said in her crisp english accent, "I can come up with a concoction to treat ailments, be they self inflicted or not. And if there is something unknown I will work my damnedest to find out a way to treat it."
Lily ordered a steak medium rare, along with some savory fried potatoes which had a little bit of zest to them. She ran through some choices in her mind, then decided to go with a Whiskey Sour. Once making her order, Lily looked around at the activity around the table they were seated at.
Kes chuckled at the exchange. He had stories of his own, but wasn't about to kiss and tell. At least not until a few more drinks filled his belly.
Taking another swig, Kes did speak up. "Last time I was at a festival like this I nearly won a moon in a game of Tongo. Or well, that's what I was told. I don't remember shit from that night."
Yara smirked as he listened to the Andorian. "I suspect that is what you were told, Lieutenant." He said skeptically as he sipped his beer and surveyed the crowd. Tollan himself had become a vegetarian since his joining. Yara's last host accepted a challenge by a Klingon to a gagh eating contest and the memory did not sit well with the symbiont, leaving a lasting impression. Instead, Tollan agreed to some authentic plomeek soup.
Matewa slammed a glass on the bar, then took a large swig from the flagon he'd acquired from the bartender. He roared a little and shook his head. "SHOTS!" he watched as a tray was taken to his shipmates.
Rufio made a dry heaving sound as he finished his. "Why do you make me do this, Matewa?" He hated shots.
All Matewa did was grin at him and slap his big bear paw of a hand on his back.
Lily didn't partake in the shots drinking, she wasn't interested. Besides Lily may have to help pour them into their bunks depending on how sloshed they were going. Lily was contented in drinking her drink and eating her food.
Kes winked at Yara. "But it makes a good story this way." He took the shot that was offered and slung it back in one gulp.
The firey liquid pleasantly burned all the way down. Kes put the shot glass back down on the table, tapping it twice to show his appreciation.
"This is true." Yara gave a soft chuckle at the Andorian as he nodded and downed his own shot, having the briefest of reactions to it. "Alright, so we don't have Char here to clean up the mess so let's make sure we don't go too crazy here." He said ruefully, eyes landing on Matewa.
"Starfleet has a different idea of crazy than I have gotten used to." Kes flashed a grin. "It's all about not getting caught, or at the very least not anything that warrants more than a night in the drunk tank."
"Here's to not getting caught LT!" Matewa announced as he raised another shot. "And staying off Commander Davaris' radar." he added jokingly.
Kes raised his own glass in turn. "To not getting caught!"
Lily chuckled and raised her own glass to that toast.
Lee came wandering back over to the table and sat down with a plate of what appeared to be a half dozen Ka-bobs and a large mug of beer. " Not sure what type of meat is on these sticks, but it sure smells good. " He said. " That and she gave me a discount on the liter purchase of beer. " He raised his mug. " Here's to good food, good friends and amazing times that we're going to have. "
Lily couldn't agree more wholeheartedly she was starting to feel a kinship with the crew gathered together just having fun. "Hear hear, I do agree. To us and getting to know each other as a crew and as friends." Lily raised her glass in the air, and took a drink from it. She set her glass down and smiled.
Yara raised his shot glass with the others to the various toasts before he downed the liquid fire that burned to his gut. After several minutes, it was clear the Trill was feeling the alcohol as he began singing to himself. "It's been a long road...getting from there to here..."
Lily couldn't help but turn her attention towards Yara. Having not expected to hear him sing.
Koaruh heard the start of the song and hummed some of it to himself before letting out,
"But my time is finally near
And I can feel the change in the wind right now
Drinking is the way
And they're not gonna stop my fun no more
No, they're not gonna ruin my time"
He hooked his arm around Lily's,
"Cause we've got some shopping to do
I'm going where my feet will take me..."
He grinned at Lily, "C'mon let's go see what we can pick up."
“Oh god,” Matewa muttered with resigned dread. “the singing…” He had grown accustomed to the Trill and Betazoid’s habit of singing as they drank over the years, rather poorly at that. He got up from the group and with a wave, told them he would find them later and went out into the festival to explore before the singing got worse.
The marine's departure only seemed to spur Yara on as his voice grew louder, and more out of pitch, with his enthusiasm. "..And no one's gonna bend or break meeee!...." Tollan made his way to his feet, still singing and now very off key, as he decided to follow the marine from a distance so he could annoy the man. He wouldn't be able to escape so easily, Tollan decided. "'Cause I got..." he nearly ran into a URC volunteer who gave him an odd look, causing him to lose his spot in the song momentarily as he nodded and catched up to Matewa. "I got faith....I got faith of the hearrrrrt...." He belted out to make sure the sergant could hear him.
