Steve gave an embarrassed smile as he walked away from Naal, Stewart and Davaris with Sophie. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt. If you'd rather stick with the group, I wouldn't mind tagging along."

"No no. I love you- your company!" Sophie blushed as she blurted out her thoughts far too quickly. Taking a deep breath, "I like that I have you to myself and not have to fight over others to speak to you." she paused for a moment and looked away. Sighing she then looked back, "I'm not exactly the most confident of people and I guess, well, don't stand out."

Steve gave a confident smile as he moved his hand to her lower back to help escort her through the crowd. "I wouldn't say that, Sophie. You have proven yourself quite the competent officer on the ship. You found that device when most others would have overlooked it. I think you need to give yourself more credit." He said to reassure her before leaning in close to be sure he heard her. "And believe me, you do stand out from others."

Realizing he may have been too friendly, Steve blushed himself and stood up with a nervous laugh and shy smile of his own. Clearing his throat, he surveyed the grounds. "So, where to? I think there are some music stages that have been setup, or we could browse amongst the vendors for a while, see what is for sale."

Sophie could have melted when she felt his hand on the small of her back. Her inside voice screamed "He's touching me!" with so much fervour that goosebumps could be felt even under her clothing.

There was a small part of her that felt he only saw her as an officer the way he kept talking about that particular facet of her life. Did he see her any other way?

That question soon answered more so than she'd have thought by the sight of his face going a little red as he pointed out she stood out more than she thought she did. Sophie smiled and threw her arm through his, joining them together. "Music first!" she cheered.

Steve smiled and nodded as he adjusted to stand closer to her. “That sounds like a plan.” He agreed and glanced around in different directions before heading towards one of the stages at random. “So what music does a silent foosball hustler like?” He asked with humor in his voice.

"Oh I don't know. I've quite a mix of kinds I like but its mostly Earth stuff. I don't know much about other worlds kind of music. I like the a bit of blues, some rock but really am a country girl at heart. Family has a ranch back on Earth and before you ask, yes I do have my own cowgirl hat." she gushed. It was almost like floodgates had opened and she was now rambling for the sake of it. Trying to not sound young and immature by his standards. "What about you?"

Steve grinned at Sophie's enthusiasm. He couldn't help finding it infectious. "Actually I have played piano since I was about six. I fell into a jazz assemble at the Academy. But I suppose I am open to most kinds of music. Let's go see what they have to offer."

"You'll need to play with me... FOR ME sometime." Sophie quickly fixed her words as her mind for a moment went rampant with rather amorous thoughts. "If you want though, I mean no pressure or anything. I know you're busy." she looked away from him and around the area.

Steve felt his cheeks burn in embarrassment at Sophie's unintentional slip up but simply grinned at her, wanting to put her at ease. "I'd love to. I think I see a food vendor near one of the performance areas. What would you like?" He asked, his hand gently at her hip to help guide her through the crowd.

"I don't know. What is there? I can't see." Sophie asked trying to peer around other festival goers. She wasn't short by any means but there were a couple of those around that were significantly taller. "You pick, and I'm sure I'll love it."

Steve smiled and led them over to a stand that was selling Uttaberry crepes which they paired with some Risan mai-tais. "I've never had uttaberries in crepes before." He commented with a smile as he took a bite before nodding his approval, mouth still full.

Sophie nodded as she too took a bite of her crepe. Unbeknownst to her though she got a smear of uttaberry on her cheek when it sadly unfolded and she had to try and put it together again. "I've never really had a mai-tai before either."

Steve gave a bemused laugh as he gently wiped the uttaberry off of Sophie's cheek. He gave her an equally gentle smile as he looked down into her eyes again. Catching himself in the moment, he blushed. "So... how's the mai-tai?" He asked as casually as he could despite being embarrassed.

She could have melted when he touched her face if not for the embarrassment of him having to clean her face free from debris. "It's got a bit of a kick to it." Sophie said as she stared into the glass.

Steve grinned and blushed as he looked out into the crowd, once they finished their crepes, disposing of the plates, being left with just their mai-tais as they walked towards the nearest music venue, some sort of Nausicaan rock band.

"Oh wow!" Sophie tried to move from side to side to get a better view. "I've heard of these guys before. I think they are called the Bonestell Back Stabbers" she commented thinking it was a bit on the nose given that's where Admiral Picard had been infamously impaled back in his youth by a group of naughty Nausicaans looking for a fight.

Steve watched Sophie with amusement as she struggled to get a decent view. Steve himself had trouble seeing over the mass of people and glanced around. He saw some scaffolding next to storage containers that were setup for the stage. “Here, let me help you.” He offered the ensign before gesturing for her to step up on the containers with him and offering to help her up on the scaffolding, mindful of where and how he placed his hands at her waist.

Goosebumps, the rising of the hairs on her arm, alive with fire as she felt his hands on her waist helping her up. She blushed slightly but not noticeable to see. "Thank you." she replied as she hopped up onto a container. "That's much better." she watched as he climbed up himself. "Not many people stay for Nausicaan rock." she mused.

Steve only shrugged as he grinned down at Sophie. "First time for everything." He shouted over the music. He glanced up to see one of the musicians yelling as he ran, head first, into another one with full force. It looked extremely painful for both, even from a distance, but both just got up and played and yelled harder than before. They seemed to enjoy the pain. "So...is this your scene?" He asked Sophie, trying his best to keep an open mind in case it was.

Sophie looked shocked at what she'd just seen. She knew Nausicaan's were a bit of a brutish species but full on running headbutts were a bit extreme. She gulped and looked at Steve as he asked her his question, "I like rock, but like classic rock. Bit of a country girl at heart though if I'm honest." she replied raising her voice a touch over the music. "These guys are a bit much."

Steve supported his weight by resting a hand on the scaffolding as he surveyed the band and nodded in agreement with Sophie. "I think you are right. Maybe we should find something else to do." He commented as moved to help the young ensign back down the containers, in much the way they climbed up them.

Once down, Steve gives Sophie a smile and starts leading them back through the crowds, away from the concert and towards the main colony.
